The armed forces of Ukraine may go on a counteroffensive in the north of the Donetsk People's Republic, the situation there is “extremely difficult”, said the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin in a video message on his telegram channel.
According to Pushilin, Kyiv has grouped in the north of the DPR serious forces, the leadership of the republic receives “alarm signals”. “It is not excluded that in the near future [Ukraine] is going to change the situation and go on the counteroffensive,” — he allowed.
Two days before, the head of the DPR said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were trying to move to “very active actions” in the Krasnolimansky direction, in the villages of Koroviy Yar and Novoselovka and the village of Drobyshevo, but the attack was repulsed. Krasny Lyman (Liman) is located 60 km northwest of Donetsk, in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region. The authorities of the DPR reported taking control of the city at the end of May.
The DPR authorities regularly accuse the Ukrainian side of shelling Donetsk and other cities. The DPR will hold the vote on the same dates as the leadership of the Lugansk People's Republic, as well as the pro-Russian military-civilian administrations of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The Russian State Duma has already promised that it will support the decision of the participants if they are in favor of joining Russia. Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev warned that after the referendums, an attack on these territories would be equated with an attack on Russia.
