Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm are reportedly working on some new music with TJ Records.
Kartel’s protege recently received a buzz in the dancehall space thanks to a gritty new single “No Frauds” that is being promoted as a Popcaan diss record. Gaza sources have confirmed with Dancehall HipHop that the two deejays, who are currently serving time for murder, are planning to drop a collaborative project. The project will be either a mixtape or full-length album feature the two deejays and produced by Kartel’s longtime producer TJ.
“This project been in the pipeline for a while and both of them (Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm) feels the time is now right,” sources said. “TJ Records has a lot of previously recorded material from both Kartel and Shawn Storm like hit-worthy material so they have been quietly working on the project for a while.” Our sources told us that this is an effort to keep the Gazantion fans happy and keep the careers of both artists relevant in dancehall.
Shawn Storm has been very loyal to Vybz Kartel and even rejected a plea deal from the prosecution in their high-profile murder trial to testify against Kartel. This could be seen as a reward for his loyalty since Vybz Kartel already have albums in the works and has been keeping himself relevant since his incarceration in 2011.
